My Thoughts

If the Nord Organ 3's "new organ" engine design (sound) turns out to be "slightly better" than what they have today in their Electro and Stage series, then I welcome this innovation into future Nord boards for the good of the Nord community as a whole. However, like with anything sound-related, beauty is in the ear of the beholder. I'm also captivated by the new "Synth Bass Pedals" feature of the Nord Organ 3. It makes sense to do something like that, as traditional organ players tend to hold down the bass, right? As such, why not give them some synth bass pedals so they can feel like "they own the place!"

Honestly, I was expecting a Nord Electro 7 release, so I'm surprised to hear of a refresh of the organ. It's been a long time coming, and it's nice to know they are holding up traditions and honoring their many different customer types. This announcement is already bringing great joy to customers who need "the ultimate organ" without the weight of a B3. At 37.5 lbs, it's only about one pound heavier than the Nord Stage 4 73 Hammer Action. By comparison, the case alone of an original B3 weighs approximately 310 lbs! I'm still a Stage/Electro/Synth guy myself, but if I needed a dedicated organ that plays and sounds like the real thing, this product would more than fit the bill.

As of this writing, the pricing is about the same as that of its competitor, the Hammond SKX Pro Dual 61-key Stage Keyboard/Organ. Both list around 4K here in the U.S. (Sweetwater).

Organ players rejoice!
